Creationism and Intelligent Design The problem of foreknowledge 28 Jun 2010 So, following on from my previous post on theism and science, let’s consider another aspect of the problem: foreknowledge. How could God know what would occur if the universe is fundamentally, by which we mean at the quantum mechanical level, indeterminate? We know from chaos theory (and chaos is determinate,… Read More
Evolution Creation, a personal reflection on the movie 18 Jul 201022 Jun 2018 I just saw the movie Creation, with Paul Bettany as Darwin and Jennifer Connelly (Bettany’s real life wife) as Emma Darwin. And I am very pleasantly surprised how well it worked as a film, as well as how effectively it represented the era. My quibbles are just that, quibbles. Mostly,… Read More
That is the funniest post-title and post that I’ve seen in regards to this Mr. Diety episode! Well done.
You know he seems much politer to the deity in person than he does on his blog. He didn’t even call him a mythical sky fairy once!
That’s Paul in person. Quiet, polite and reasonable. The only sign of the madness is his love of all things cephalopodic.
ROTFLMAO… This was the Mr Deity Episode I’d hoped would come out of that meeting. I have to say, PZ was kinder and gentler than I’d imagine him to be. oh, and LOVED the banana!
I always got the impression he is a caring person. I have been guesing his style on his site is designed to appeal and motivate a younger reader. He is an extremly gifted communicator. What struck me about the episode is his voice, the other guy is projecting his voice out of his nose. Its not very effective and would sound even worse on stage. P.Z sounds like the one with the pro. vocal training. He must be very effective in the lecture hall.
I would say Mr. Deity’s voice is very effective at making him sound like a twit. Which is the point, after all. I like the Ray Comfort / banana reference at the end.
Pretty amusing: “Lucy is in the details”, “P-Zed”, squid, and a comforting banana. Mzzyzxpks wasn’t bad… — Martin
