Technical problem 19 Jun 201122 Jun 2018 Is anyone else seeing this? If so, leave a note. Reader Shawn Hamman gets it and I’m trying to track down the problem. Administrative
Administrative Outstanding topics 6 Sep 200718 Sep 2017 I have, I must confess, started a number of projects here that I haven’t finished. Teaching is getting the better of me (and no, I’m not going to put my lectures down on cognitive science, as I do them “freeform”,, so I’d have to do a lot of work to… Read More

Administrative Well, there goes my academic career 25 Sep 2007 Over the past three years or so I have been trying to get an academic career going, at the tender age of (then) 49 (now 51). I have applied for a number of positions while working as a postdoc at the University of Queensland, and tried now twice to get… Read More
You only asked for positive results but, as in science, it is sometimes good to know about negative results also. I only see the normal page without any error message.
I should have said: Win 7 with Firefox 4 & IE8 (the second only to check if that doesn’t stuff things up).
On my iMac with Firefox I see this and have done so for about two weeks or maybe even more. Had been meaning to inform you but didn’t get round to it, sorry. On my Macbook with Safari it doesn’t appear. Hope this helps!
Yes, for several weeks now. Do I get points? Are they cashable? I have a Notebook PC, for what it’s worth. No sarky comments from Mac users please.
Mac mini/OS 10.6.7/Safari: Saw it the first time the page loaded, but not on refresh. I didn’t see it when I loaded the page in Firefox, but that was right after the Safari experiment…
…Although the banner disappears after refresh (in Safari) — I still get the links (About/Categories/Evolution/etc.) but no picture. No such problems in Firefox.
I’m using Opera on a PC. Haven’t seen it at all, although there have been a couple of occasions recently when I couldn’t get in at all.
Hey, I get it too for a moment, but then it goes away. Happens both on iPad and latest chrome for Mac. On a variety of internet connections.
I got it when I first loaded the page (MacBook Air, OS 10.5.8; browser that no one else is likely to be using: iCab 4.8.0) but when I scrolled up to read it again it had disappeared.
Negative. Although I reported some of the visible links (file_get_contents()) on 30/05, it’s been over a week that I haven’t seen them, and there aren’t any other stray links or messages showing up at the moment. Mac OS X 10.6.7, Safari 5.0.5 with JavaScript Blacklist, AdBlock, ClickToFlash (all up-to-date).
Shows up every now and then. Not enough to comment on, but seein’ as you asked… (Linux/FF – and disappears on reload (grr))
I think I tracked it down to a plugin, which I have disabled. I’d like to hear if it persists, though.
