Travel Diary 3 6 Oct 2009 Here I am in Erlangen, after two whirlwind days with Thony Christie, seeing Albert Speer’s version of the Coliseum, lots of Nurnberg and Erlangen sites, and some originals of Conrad Gesner’s never-completed Historia Plantarum. That man was a damned good artist. I owe Thony some serious thanks. But I signed his copies of The Books. Tomorrow I go to Göttingen for the Hybridization in Primates conference, where I will talk on the impact of lateral heredity on the species concept. Thence to Oxford. More later. Administrative

In London I walked myself silly (getting the… Read More
Hi there, I am here in Göttingen, enjoying my day, studying biology and I am wondering how the heck I can listen to the talks without invitation. Bummer, they wont let anyone into the Hotel, I guess.
you just follow the link that the Aussie Anthropoid provided and click on registration and then follow the instructions. Simple really! Warning participation in such conferences usually is dependent on the payment of a fee!
There’s a public lecture at 6 tonight: Public lecture by Prof. Mike Arnold from the University of Georgia: “Why the web of life, and not the tree of life?” Venue: Lecture Hall, Albrecht-von-Haller-Institut für Pflanzenwissenschaften, University Göttingen
