Some fun 11 Jun 2008 This guy is brilliant, both as a guitarist and a lyricist. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpNoQaB2LT0&hl=en] Oh, his name’s Chris Smither, if you want to Google him. Evolution Humor

I recommend the 2000 compilation album, Live As I’ll Ever Be…preceding the song “No Love Today”, Smither explains about the fruit and veg sellers in New Orleans, and what a mirliton is. I couldn’t listen to the album for about a year after Hurricane Katrina, without getting all weepy.
LOVE him! Big Fan. I think Train Home is probably my favorite song. I have a new found admiration for you john ;p

That’s not country, that’s fine guitar playing. Anyway, I discovered Johnny Cash recently… you may have heard of him.
I was a fan of his when he played Passim (a venue for folk music in Cambridge, MA) occasionally. Good to see him again.
John is correct-Chris Smither is not a country musician. Folk and blues (mainly blues), but not country. Music genre identification FAIL!
Bonnie Raitt and Jorma Kaukonen are both fans of his guitar picking which just about elevates him to godhood!
