Species: The evolution of the idea 12 Oct 2017 My revised book is now titled Species: The evolution of the idea, and now contains a philosophy section as well as a complete list of species concept[ion]s and an appendix of all taxonomic levels I could locate. It is due out in February 2018 from CRC Press. I have done a complete revision of all sections and gone back to the sources for checking and added a slew of new citations. There’s some new history as well. I fixed all the mistakes of the first edition I could find or which were pointed out to me, pointedly. Keep an eye out for the announcement of the publication details. At the moment, the book page at CRC Press is a placeholder. Also keep an eye out for Brent Mishler’s book What are species? due in March. He told me and the rest of the table an anecdote about hooded crows. It seems that in order to capture one to band, the ornithologists must sneak in the dead of night to… Read More
