Leading intelligent design advocate speaks at BCF

Students were on the edge of their seats recently as leading Intelligent Design advocate William Dembski spoke in the R. G. Lee Chapel at the Baptist College of Florida in Graceville.
Known for his comprehensive research and excellent debating skills, Dembski serves as the director of the Center of Cultural Engagement and a research professor of pilosophy at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.
After a time of musical praise and worship, Dembski took the stage and began a clear, concise analysis of the necessity for Intelligent Design studies. He highlighted the similarities and differences between Intelligent Design and Creation Theory and explained why there was a need for both and how science and religion go hand in hand. Dembski’s investigative research and insightful lecture was met with appreciative applause as he concluded with prayer.
Throughout the day, faculty and students were able to explore Dembski’s research findings as he shared in several classes and during a faculty forum. Several professors combined their classes giving the largest number of students the opportunity to listen and examine the ideas uncovered by Dembski. The topics that Dembski discussed were grounded in Biblical faith and doctrine ranging from Darwinism to Information Theory.
Now I’m going to hazard a guess that the book in his hands, as he stands at that pulpit in front of a religious symbol, is not the Origin of Species, and that “Biblical faith and doctrine” is not something he derived from Shannon. And notice that he now has stated unequivocally that he is a creationist.
But he’s as much a philosopher as I am a car mechanic.

Nice of Bill to remind us of his credentials. Just in time for our birthdays too. I seem to remember (perhaps erroneously) that the 11th of Nov is also your birthday. If so, many happy returns. If not, then I’m afraid I’m going to have to call you a paedophilic communist sexist pig despite this a) being your living room and b) having zero basis in fact. Thus I shall cover any error in my remembrance of your birthday in egregious abuse. Which is not in any way transparent to the same degree that Bill’s prior protestations about his not being a creationist were transparent.

The debate John lynch is starting for one.
The Darwin was a Nazi and the image of Darwin as the new Grand Theft Auto and patron Saint of serial killers allowed I.D. to distance itself from creationisim. Rather usefull in parts of the world like the U.K. where fundamentalisim is a fringe belief but anxiety and media hype on such issues is strong and has legs.
Dembski seems to have shot it in the foot.
Perhaps it’s a birthday gift?
